QMotion Dance Technique

The workshop will be structured into three different phases. One of them will involve working on movement phrases taken from our company’s repertoire, where we will delve into the dynamics and energy that support them, with a special focus on floor work and trajectories.

A second phase will introduce participants to Q-motion tools, a methodology I developed in collaboration with the National Dance Company of Spain and London City University. These tools are designed for movement creation, generation, and the exploration of movement qualities.

In the third phase of the workshop, we will engage in a composition process using the material worked on throughout the day. It will be a fabulous day, full of enjoyment for everyone.

Ex- former member of Cirque du Soleil and founder of ACDN Productions, Phd Eva S. Martz has an extensive and distinguished career in the performing arts. She served as the Associate Head of Dance at the Institute of the Arts Barcelona until 2019, where she played a pivotal role in shaping the dance curriculum and mentoring upcoming dancers and choreographers.
With her company, MartzDanceCo, Eva is at the forefront of innovative dance creation projects aiming to uncover deeper insights of human behaviour through experimental choreography, pushing the boundaries of contemporary dance and movement studies.

Martz is currently engaged in groundbreaking research in collaboration with the Ballet Nacional de España and the Compañía Nacional de Danza de España. Her research focuses on the intricate relationship between cognition and movement, exploring the decision-making processes behind movement.

Since 2014, she has been dedicated to developing her own unique work on stage. Her contributions to the field of dance are not only artistic but also academic, merging her research findings with her creative practice to produce thought-provoking and dynamic stage productions. Founder of the QMotion Dance Technique she is deeply involved in the training of future dancers.
