Within a two-day workshop, Dalija will share her choreographic, movement, and performative practice, Sensuous Performative Ecologies, developed for babies and children with diverse developmental profiles.

The workshop focuses on exploring movement and dance in relation to perceptual, relational, and attentional strategies that foreground affective transmission, presence, and responsiveness. 

Participants will explore strategies essential for performing in immersive, dynamic environments, and approaches for attuning movement scores in real time to diverse perceptual modalities and physical encounters. The practice ethos challenges hierarchical and binary distinctions inherent in performing arts formats for children, and declines ableism and ageism. It is designed to foster equitable relationships that honour the agency and individuality of children.

Dalija Acin Thelander is a freelance choreographer and stage designer working with interdisciplinary approaches to inclusive performing arts for babies and young audiences with diverse developmental profiles. Her practice reimagines the aesthetic, relational, and ethical dimensions of contemporary performance for children. Centering on affective, embodied experience and implementing immersive, durational formats, her work is dedicated to the cultivation of sensuous, inclusive ecologies of experience.

Her work has been presented in Japan, Korea, India, China, Singapore, Macao, Hong Kong, Brazil, South Africa, and across Europe, and has been commissioned by the Royal Opera in Stockholm (2017, 2022). She is a recipient of the ASSITEJ International Artistic Excellence Award (2021). From 2022–2024, she conducted an academic research project at the Stockholm University of the Arts focused on inclusive choreographic and performative methodologies and formats.
