BECOMING THE SPACE

During this workshop we will work through an improvisation practice Joseba created 5 years ago. This method is a constant exploration of a sensing body, by working together with different musicalities, fantasies and textures. The goal is to find a state of totality, playfulness and awareness where anything is possible, by embracing the unknown and the irregularity of our bodies in space, always in relationship both with the music and others. 

We will physically and collectively explore the idea of “becoming”: becoming the space, the task, the group… by immersing our bodies in different games and tasks that may awaken our senses and imagination.

The workshop is open for any professional dancer/actor/performing artist interested in movement and improvisation. Josebas goal is to create an open and creative space for the participants to feel safe in their choice making.

Joseba Yerro Izaguirre is a dance artist based in Gothenburg. Previously, he has danced for GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, The National Dance Company Wales and IT Dansa with choreographers that allowed him to expand his artistic vision. Since 2 years ago, he freelances in Sweden working with Mari Carrasco, Örjan Andersson, Hofesh Shechter, Fernando Melo and Helena Franzén. Simultaneously he has also been a guest teacher for GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, Cullbergbaletten, Skånes Dansteater and RegionTeater Väst, and has held workshops in Spain and Taiwan.
